Travel Diary: Paris

Eiffel in love with this city…immediately! Paris, what a dream come true and what an honour to get to know the heart of this beautiful city. Leaving winter behind, letting go of English as we know it and alternating from an Italian summer to a Parisian love affair! The most incredible way to end our holiday.

Traveling from Venice to Paris on an overnight train was a bit tough. Usually it’s a standard 6-sleeper and its guaranteed to fill up as it stops along the way. Things can get awkward and a bit uncomfortable, especially when communication isn’t clear. I don’t recommend it unless the entire cabin is shared with people you know.

We stayed in an Airbnb quite far from the CBD, but once you travel on the Metro, you will never complain how far things are from each other. It was such a lovely spot, and had all the qualities of a typical Parisian apartment; large white shutters, small ornate balcony and furnished in French vintage. 1 Bathroom with separate toilet and two bedrooms and a sleeper couch in the lounge. Fit for 5 people sharing. (View the apartment)

Again, as mention in one my previous travel posts – buy a City Pass. We visited the following places all on one pass (bear in mind some of these places take a couple of hours to a full day visiting):

Louvre Museum

Arc de Triomphe

Palace of Versailles

Rodin Museum

Centre Pompidou – Musée national d’art moderne

And yes, all the rumours are true! Paris is a bit dirty with litter and pollution and expensive as f*!?, but if you plan ahead and save accordingly – you’ll be just fine. Just like most popular cities, there’s always stuff on the agenda that can be done without breaking the bank. Get to know some of the locals and let them show you a thing or two!
